World Book Day

It has been a fantastic World Book Day this year at Ilmington School! This year, everyone decided to celebrate a little bit differently. We all dressed up in the theme of 'colour'. Some people chose to wear multicoloured outfits and some people chose to dress all in one colour. We have been having great fun with the World Book Day Competition and we have had some fantastic entries so far. The competition has been extended until Friday so make sure your entry gets to your class teacher before then! Today, each class learned about a story linked to the theme of colour.

Class 4 learned about Marmalade the Orange Panda. They researched the animals that are in the story and learned lots of interesting facts. They listened to half of the story and then worked with partners to decide what could happen in the end. After they had found out what happens, the children drew story maps to show their own stories on the same theme!

The children in Class 3 have been learning about a book called The Colour Monster. They have made a story map to help them to remember the key events and then they used their junk modelling skills to create their own monsters. The librarians took their monsters to Class 1, Year 1 and Year 2 to retell the story to the younger children.
