Collective Worship

This term, our British Value is Mutual Respect and our Christian Values are respect, teamwork, thankfulness and peace.

This week, Miss West delivered collective worship with a focus on respect. We talked about what respect means and why this is our one school rule. We looked at examples of how we can respect ourselves, others and property and we talked about why this is important.

Rev Stephen took collective worship on Wednesday and continued the discussion about respect. He explained that 'Do unto others as you would have done to you' is a theme in lots of religions. Rev Stephen taught us a new way to pray using our hand. The thumb is closest to us so this represents a prayer for a friend. The pointing finger is for people who guide us like parents. The next finger is the tallest finger so it represents people who hold important positions in our country and the world. The next finger is the weakest on our hand and so it represents a prayer for people who might be struggling. Our smallest finger is a prayer for ourselves.
